She has grace, a super personality and so much compassion. She does not own a portable phone or laptop so this would allow her to stay connected no matter where she is!

I served in the military for 25 years, and was able to do a NATO posting in Ismailia Egypt, 6 months at CFS Alert, 4 years in Lahr Germany and served at various bases in Canada. I was involved in many exercises with the CAF and it was never boring. For example we tested equipment while staying in tents in Norman Wells for a month! In my off time I parachuted, rode motorcycles and was a Senior Instructor for the Canada Safety Council motorcycle training program. So yes, I think I am pretty fabulous.

I thought I'd update you on the gifts/money owing status.

We got a few good advertisers over the past couple of months so I am happy to announce that I will finally be able to payout ALL pending gifts and money as of July 1st.

Amberlab will however be busy because she's expecting a new baby so I will take care of sending out the gifts. If however you already contacted Amberlab you do not need to contact me. Your name is on the queue and we did not forget about you!

So here's my plan:

I'll get paid around June 28th but will most likely be camping on Canada Day (although I want to see the Queen at Parliament Hill so not sure what I'll do yet). Either way I'll be free starting from July 5th and will start mailing out the gifts that week. My plan is to pay out everything in July to bring SmartCanucks' balance back to $0.

I apologize for the delays in sending out your gifts/money. I have been running SC with a negative budget for a while now and it's really frustrating. I'm glad I'll be finally hitting the $0 mark next month

Anonymous's comments: ONE person, always very supportive of the site, claimed to be paid after emailing him that night. Many others have claimed to contact him many times including that night with no response.

Sally keeps claiming how hes paying people, but won't say who, and not one other person has said they have received payment? Apparently someone is on a previously unknown "priority list" according to Sally, yet she has not been paid.

Alex "Boo" Radley has had no comment since Aug 4, though clearly logs on every day.

We are still wondering what happened between having the money to pay EVERYONE owed Jun 30 - July 22 when he was preparing envelopes as he typed and going THAT NIGHT to buy gift cards to Aug 4 when he had the money to (maybe?) pay one person?

Where did the money go, that he's known he owed people for 1 year+ and promised to take care of many times? He went on a trip to Ottawa and camping and then there is no more money to pay what he owes hmmmm?

My thoughts on this:
And this is how it continues to go. Do they try and find out the sponsors/advertisers and get their attention to the ongoing problems? I don't know for sure. The downside of this may be the end of Smart Canucks, which I would hate to see since otherwise it is a fantastic site. My biggest beef is that Alex will not be honest and just tell the truth, if he has no money TELL THEM. People respond a lot better to the truth then to lies.

The reason the bulldog is still there and is allowed to unleash however she wants, on whoever she wants, she got him out of a previous legal problem. So it seems these broken promises may not be unfamiliar waters he seems to find himself in? Just sayin'

It could also be that people have been paid and gotten gifts and prizes owed, but have not shared this with anyone else?

While I did finally get paid, because I started this blog, it seems most members have not been paid. So we need to start tracking again as members are again getting upset and not allowed to voice their opinions over there in fear of getting banned. Comments have been left, emails received letting me know that again promises were made by Boo Radley, the admin, and not being kept. While I have not seen any of these threads or posts, please feel free to leave me a link and I will take a look and document it here for you. Hi everyone,

Here is the current status of the Cashback and what you need to do to get paid for all your transactions and an explanation of the reason behind the delays.

All transactions have been (and still are) fully tracked by the system. We however completely rebuilt our Cashback system and while doing so, a conflict between the old and new systems resulted in a problem that made it very hard to display the transactions that occurred in the past few months consistently. We fixed all these issues and tracking will be automated and reliable with transactions showing up in less than 24 hours in the Cashback panel starting on November 1st, 2009.

However, for transactions before November 1st, 2009, I have decided that the best way to take care of these will be on a personal basis (and manually) through email. I will ensure that you get paid for every transaction you made through the Cashback system. To express my apology for this inconvenience, instead of paying you a percentage Cashback, I will pay all the commission a transaction has generated.

All I need from you please is to email me with your SmartCanucks ID (if you know it) and a rough list of the transactions you placed and I will retrieve the details and reply back to you with a list. Once you confirm that I have listed all the transactions you made and acknowledge the total I owe you, I will then proceed to send out the payment immediately to the address/paypal you specify.

I will be replying back to your emails in less than 24 hours. Once again I deeply apologize for this inconvenience and I guarantee you that starting on November 1st, 2009 you will be getting the highest quality of service and reliability from the New CashBack System.

Blah blah blah... he wants everyone to believe that they are going to start paying people they owe, sending gifts they owe, yeah they still held contests and shit, I don't believe Alex. This has been going on since before last August for many, Aug 2009 for me. Some of those members have since been banned or quit, they were just so fed up. I think it posted for the advertisers and to keep members,the ones not aware of the ongoing saga, from started to question them.

So they have new advertisers. Guess that is why they deleted all the negative posts about them lying to members, ignoring questions and emails.

I just posted this, but I don't expect it to stay up there long. They tend to try and keep me quiet, the whole reason I started keeping it here on my blog.

smart canucks "Cash Gate" update

Well it seems I got the part of the admin not knowing what was going on part wrong. I went back and re-read where I thought I had seen it, but all I see is that they wanted to un-ban me and apologize. Wishful thinking on my part maybe? lol

A question then. If my posts were so bad, which they were not, why would the ban be lifted on such a terrible person like myself and an apology given. I think it is because I am not in the wrong with the whole cash back fiasco.

I found out that quite a few people had been banned. I wonder how many others were banned during "Cash Gate" but won't come back to the site and talk about it.

Yesterday in the f there is anything you do NOT like about SmartCanucks please let me know! admin created thread, where the apology was written for me and accepted by me, all hell broke loose, like they didn't know that would happen, it is abundantly clear that there is a do as I say, not as I do situation on the forum. Being as this is really the first large forum I have been with, maybe this is the norm.
Okay, I get it now.

So... I have learned that it is best to keep my thoughts, opinions and disappoint with the way things are handled on there, off of there.
Simple.... I can do that!

I will put them here on my blog where I can't be banned or censored for this situation, or at least I don't think so, unless I piss myself off, as this is hardly important to anyone other than me, or maybe to one or two of the 100's of people that are owed money on the Smart Canucks site.

I did take exception to being accused of trolling and being personally censored and banned and I hope it has stopped. I was not the only one who was concerned with the problems of cashback, but I guess I was the one that finally threw down the gauntlet. It's my nature, it's why I stayed in the CAF for 25 years.

I think the lack of admin presence in those threads is what was really frustrating, but I think we have all learned something from this and that is a good thing. Don't for a minute think I don't know or appreciate how much time and work it is, for you and the mods running this site. I do and I thank you all.

I know that this site will continue to be one of the best.

Major problems with the Smart Canucks website

They have, or I should say now, had, a cash back system. They finally shut it down a few days ago. They encouraged users to click through the links when shopping as then the stores paid them and in turn Smart Canucks agreed to pay us a small %.

Well they have not. They refuse to acknowledge users emails, ticket inquires and users were unable to cash out.

Hundreds of posts about the problems began. I posted a few, less than 10 in a 6 month period, most were responses to questions, some were questions to the admin people of the site.

I myself have been trying to cash out since Nov 2009.

Then a real bully started pulling my posts and sending me PM's telling me to stop it.

When there was outcry that the admin owner was ignoring everyone's concern I posted this on 1 Dec 2009

As far as I was, and still am concerned, their cashback program is a binding contract. If it changed, should the users not be informed?? I would have done my shopping through Airmiles.

Not sure if you realize this, but because I answered a question about cashback on a thread, and made a couple of comments in response to others on the P&P thread, that sally888 has banned me for "trolling".

I did not lie in those comments. Your site still owes me money. Because of her actions prior to this in 2009, I have been keeping copies of all the PM's she has sent me and always keep copies of the threads I post to because she has a tendency to censer me and delete my posts.

I really don't know the legalities of all this and new laws are being made about the web all the time, but I am going to talk to a lawyer, the television network that originally talked about SC, any newspaper that will listen and CBC Marketplace.

Sad that your sites' "self designated bouncer" decided to do this to a 25 year veteran of the Canadian Military. I spent my life serving Canada and Nato, I will not tolerate being treated this way. I am retired with nothing but time on my hands now, so I hope it won't interfere too much with your schooling.

All you had to do was answer my emails about cashback, or paypal me the money I was owed, but she decided to bully the wrong person.

So this is where it sits now. I have not yet heard from either of them, but I wouldn't be surprised not to, and fully expect to see a permanent ban from the site.

Now the sum of money I am owed isn't that large, $33.96 plus 2 outstanding tickets, one for AVON FROM AUG 30 where I spent $86.96 and one for TOYS R US FROM SEP 9
where I spent $182.98, so a small percentage of these totals would be owed.

For me, it's not only the money I am owed, but also for the way in which this has been and continues to be handled. I am on a fixed income now, less than $14,000 CDN a year. I have bills to pay, a mortgage, insurance payments, groceries to buy and so on. Could I use this little bit of cash, you bet!

Anyway, just wanted to get this ongoing saga out there, maybe a legal person will see it, or a news person, and take a closer look into what is going on and if any of us really have any rights when we join an group.

I will update when I hear more.

I put all the furry kids on a diet as they had gotten quite chunky. 2 of them are Dachshunds and added weight is not good for their little legs or backs. Everyone showed marked improvement except for Muggins. She is a miniature toy Doxie and she is blind. I could not figure out why she was not losing weight. Turns out this little ragga-muffin is quite adapt at removing the bag clips and climbing in to help herself to her own meals. I often found the bag open, but just thought someone had forgotten to close it. Let me say also it is one of those large dog food bags. I just couldn't even imagine that she would be able to finagle the top of the bag down! She now can't get at it or any of the other pet food so her weight should begin to drop. Never underestimate what a little dog can do!

Okay so I DON'T need them, but my oh my I would love to buy them. I saw them on Zappos.com, but not on the Canadian Zappos site. I checked Overstock.com, they have lots of Born shoes, sadly not these ones. I found them on Nordstrom, unfortunately they only use UPS to ship to Canada, which I will never use again, their brokerage fees are insane.
